We caught up with Team T3 Racing, a UK-based road racing team, as they prepare for Isle of Man TT 2016. The tourist trophy race has been held every year since 1907 on the Isle of Man, an island in the Irish Sea between England and Ireland. Team T3 Racing is competing in both 600cc Supersport races, with rider and double TT winner Gary Johnson driving a Triumph Daytona 675. Andy Jenkinson, the team principal and a former rider, and Johnson gave us a glimpse into what they’re focusing on and how they prepare for a race.
Revo: What is your team’s main focus for the Isle of Man TT 2016?
Andy Jenkinson: To win! I have an obsession (healthy one) to achieve, to do our very best and in this case we have a great rider in Gary, a great team of Engineers in Tony and Dave, I never do anything simply to make up the numbers!
Revo: How do you motivate each other as a team?
AJ: I like to think that my success is understanding people, their objectives, goals, desires basically what makes them tick. One of my key roles is to work with the team and to, wherever possible, give them the “tools” to achieve their own goals and aspirations which hopefully are aligned with mine. What we have achieved as a new TT racing team in a very short 3 months, is I believe testimony to the congruency and collective efforts with common goals that was embedded in the team from the outset.
Revo: What was your greatest racing moment?
AJ: I have been very fortunate to have had a very varied and successful sporting career from national level cycling at semipro level to bodybuilding championships and racing Aston Martins. Of all of these I would say winning the Aston Martin Championship in 2003, however winning the Oulton Park Gold Cup, Innes Ireland Trophy, The Autosport 3 Hours are also amongst very notable single race victories.

Revo: What is your favorite Revo lens for driving?
Gary Johnson: I'm a massive fan of all the lenses to be fair! With having extremely sensitive eyes to the sunlight I find the Revo lenses second to none in protecting my eyes and constantly squinting from the sunlight. With the Solar Orange lenses pairing up with our team colors it does single this lens out for me :) Away from that though I love also the Blue Water crystal lens.
Revo: How does a two-time TT winner and British Supersport Cup Champion prepare for race weekends?
GJ: Find keeping relaxed the best way to perform best, but away from that love training and having fun on all different disciplines of bikes in general.
Revo: What is your favorite circuit?
GJ: Love lots of different circuits in different ways but the ultimate challenge has got to be the TT circuit!
Revo: How do you mentally prepare yourself for such dangerous and challenging race like the Isle Of Man TT?
GJ: Nobody told me it was dangerous :)
Revo: What’s your proudest personal achievement?
GJ: My first TT has to be right up there along with being the first guy to win on a British manufacturer in such a long time in 2014 again on the Triumph!
